317 SS Pipes can be welded using fusion and
resistance methods. Oxyacetylene welding method is not preferred for this alloy.
SS UNS S31700 / S31703 Seamless Pipes can be hot worked using all
common hot working procedures. It is heated at 1149-1260 degrees C (2100-2300
degrees F). It should not be heated below 927 degrees C (1700 degrees F). Post-work

Stainless Steel 1.4438 / 1.4449 Welded Pipes is a low carbon
austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel that can be utilized in applications where it is
not possible to anneal after welding and where maximum corrosion resistance is needed. It
gives good oxidation resistance in intermittent service to 1600 degrees F and in continuous
service to 1700 degrees F. SS 317L
Pipe is much more prone to attack at the point of condensation than
standard alloy 316 in processes where sulfur-bearing gas condensation occurs. The low carbon
permits SS317L to be welded without sensitization to intergranular corrosion resulting from
chromium carbide precipitation in the grain boundaries. 317L Stainless Steel Pipes is widely
used in applications like Condensers in fossil, Pulp, and paper manufacturing, nuclear
