Monel is the
alloying element that is actually a
combination of two or more compounds. It is
having a nickel of approx 60 to 70% and
copper of approx 20 to 29%. Also, it is
containing manganese and iron. There are
various types of Monel grades available like
Alloy 400, 401, R-405, 450, K-500 and
404. Monel alloys are greatly resistant to the
general corrosion and are also known
as rust resistant and corrosion strong material.
It is resisting acids and corrosion
and some alloys can easily withstand fire in
100% pure oxygen. This material is
stronger as compared to steels, is malleable,
greatly resistant to alkalis.
Furthermore, it can be easily soldered, brazed
and welded.
