These valves are
made of a rare combination of
chromium and nickel and both of these elements
are present in considerable
proportions. These valves are known for offering
excellent oxidation resistance to
carburizing and reducing environments. Due to
the presence of chromium and nickel
content, these valves are resistant to sulfur
and to many other acidic substances.

The perfect combination of mechanical strength and chemical
composition is the prime reason
behinds its high level of demand in industries and commercial
uses. These have high carbon
content in it and it leads to enhanced creep properties.
However, due to the presence of a
high amount of chromium these valves are more corrosion
resistant than most heat resistant
alloys.

Instrumentation
valves find its use in slightly oxidizing,
cementing and thermal cycling
applications. But they require that optimum service temperature
to be reduced. Cryogenic
applications make use of these valves often but with low
magnetic permeability. These
valves are common in use in fluid-based bed combustors and
radiant tubes. With that many
industries use these in tube hangers for petroleum refining and
steam boilers and coal
gasifying internal components.
